Meet this month's Woman We Love...
In one or two sentences introduce yourself…….
For once I don't know what to say, that's a tough question it would be easier to answer if I felt like I was only one self. I am an actor and I've worked on TV shows like Ride With the Devil, Shortland Street, Amazing Extraordinary Friends and Asia Down Under.
What's your biggest project going on now?
I have just finished filming on a TV series for Greenstone Pictures called Amazing Extraordinary Friends, a kids/family show about Superheroes and now I have something coming up soon but I can't say what exactly so I'm about to go crazy overseas for a bit on another adventure... I'll keep you posted.
What do you spend your days doing?
It's hard to tell when you don't the 9 to 5, I'd like to say I spend most of my days on set filming, this isn't always the case so I busy myself with some frelance writing, pilates and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) this year I completed my NLP Master Practioner course. My sister Natalie Chan is a fashion designer and the two of us often just kick it at her workroom.
Where's your favourite place in NZ?
I could almost lie about this one... but really just want to say Auckland, do you hate me? Clearly I haven't travelled extensively through New Zealand. Although Opoutere in the Coromandel is so disarmingly beautiful and runs a close second, plus Auckland does't have Soul Burger the best burger joint ever.
What's your favourite tipple?
Don't get me started, the best cocktail I ever had was at the most gorgeous bar called Omoro at the Tokyo Park Hyatt it was an apple mohito and I haven't tasted anything so good since. It wasn't a real drink, I'm sure it was the nectar of the gods. So I suppose a Barcardi lime and soda or a nice tequila does the trick.
Who inspired/or continues to inspire you most in your life?
I love the old adage a reason, a season a lifetime... I believe that people come into your life and often fulfil one or more of these. So I have people who walk into my life all the time who inspire me in many ways and sometimes very special people come along and impart me with a life long inspirational footprint, my sister Natalie is one of these people.
What's the latest thing downloaded to your Ipod?
I am not the most technologically savvy person... so I had to buy The Best of the Doors on CD after going crazy over the Doors film! I'm also listening to the best mix cd ever right now which was compiled just for me by someone very special. I play it in my car everyday, it makes me instantly happy.
What's your biggest weakness?
Indulgence. Particularly in all things decadent, rich and forbidden (and sometimes expensive) like designer shoes. I can be very extreme and do things to the max so when it rains it really pours... Thankfully I'm also a huge believer of moderation.
If you weren't doing what you are doing now you'd…
Be working in the industry of success coaching, personal development and well being. I'd love to travel the world and give people the tools to create the kind of lives that they really want to live. Or I'd be a Geisha, I love all things Japanese.
What are you reading?
I have Deepak Chopra's Seven Spiritual Laws of Success next to my bed and often I'll open it up to a chapter which is relevant. My favourite is chapter 6, the Law of Detachment. I've also been trying to get through Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich in between takes.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Not having a care in the world!
What is your greatest fear?
An apocalypse.
What is your greatest extravagance?
My twice weekly one-on-one Pilates sessions with my instructor and friend Natalie Cook, I could've bought a small island by now! Although I see it as more of a necessity and an investment into my well-being.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I'd give my self the power to physically bi-locate so I could be at two places at once so I could have twice the fun...! Or I'd just like to grow a couple more inches.
Finish these sentences:
It really irritates me that
That there are so many artificial additives and rubbish in something that should be so natural and nourishing like food. I think it's ridiculous!
I just love it when….
Something comes together and manifests itself so brilliantly it's magic! It amazes me every time. Or when somebody shows me true kindness.
Thanks Caleigh, we have dedicated a garment from Summer 08 in honour of you! The Caleigh Border Print Top & Dress and is available in store in October.
