Winter 08 Recipients
We are delighted to announce the following women and organisations as our Winter 08 recipients of funding from the Max Foundation for New Zealand Women Trust.
We think you’ll agree they absolutely embody the spirit of the Foundation and we are thrilled to be able to provide them support to enable them to achieve their goals.
HIPPY
The Home Interaction Programme for Parents and Youngsters works to encourage parents’ skills as educators of their pre-school children.
"It’s so encouraging to know that the trustees of the Max Foundation understand and appreciate the magnificent work of our co-ordinators" says Jane Hall, HIPPY national director.
"There are 24 around the country and they educate, inspire, support and motivate nearly 1500 women every year so that they can inspire and guide their children to success in education".
The Max Foundation for New Zealand Women has pledged $6,500 to HIPPY to go towards a national conference and professional development for its co-ordinators.
Shaline Das-Fitzgibbon
Shaline Das-Fitzgibbon was diagnosed last year with advanced ovarian cancer, an insidious disease that often gives little forewarning in the way of symptoms.
“I am absolutely honoured and excited to be a recipient of the Max Foundation funding, “ says Shaline.
“It will enable me to not only create awareness for gynaecological cancer, which is desperately needed, but also offer patients gifts of support during their difficult journey. Max has not only allowed me to achieve my goal but will assist in providing some happiness for other women.”
The Max Foundation for New Zealand Women has pledged $4,500 towards two fundraising High tea's in November to raise awareness of gynaecological cancers.
Kelly Davenport
Kelly Davenport's academic and sporting success has earned her a scholarship to a leading private school.
“We spoke to Kelly’s current principal and he described her as the most outstanding all-rounder he has seen in 10 years,” says Foundation trustee and Max marketing director Sandy Burgham.
“Aiding this young woman is an investment in everyone’s future.”
The Max Foudnation for New Zealand Women has pledged $550 to Kelly Davenport to contribute to education costs.
