Jodine Bell
In one or two sentences introduce yourself…….
I’m the very lenient owner of Mr Charles the cat, a graphic designer for the nice people at Switch and keep myself out of trouble with my two on-the-side companies. I’m a surprisingly good cook (other people are always surprised – I’m not sure why or what that says about me) and I was a mean roller skater in my formative years.
What’s your biggest project going on now?
My co-empire builder and I are in the middle of launching of our wedding invitation and stationery company http://www.howardtinks.com, we specialise in custom invites and all the other things that go with it. It’s a nice way of making people happy! Also I’ve got Christmas orders to fill for my jewellery line http://www.stjoe.co.nz
It’s a crazy time of year to be trying to do everything and I should have been more organised. Though I say that every year!
What do you spend your days doing?
Being creative hopefully! Otherwise I’m in trouble.
Where’s your favourite place in NZ?
My bed – I could spend a long time there.
What’s your favourite tipple?
A hefty syrah for everyday, Veuve Clicquot to celebrate, or a brilliant fruity cocktail with an embarrassing name that they make me at Cibo.
Who inspired/or continues to inspire you most in your life?
Anyone who has the determination to keep moving forward no matter what the situation or obstacle.
What’s the latest thing downloaded to your Ipod?
Kings of Leon’s latest album.
What’s your biggest weakness?
Shopping! I battle constantly with unnecessary but oh-how-I-want-it purchases. Mostly shoes, bags and coats strangely enough. How many coats does one person need! But at least I’ve moved on from sequinned bags.
If you weren’t doing what you are doing now you’d…
be living the good life in southern Italy with chickens, cats, a little studio to paint in, olive trees, a vege garden, oh and too much wine.
What are you reading?
Last Curtsey: The End of the Debutantes by Fiona MacCarthy. It’s a memoir about the final London season that debutantes curtsied to the Queen in 1958. The dresses are amazing.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A good book, good company, gorgeous sunny weather and having nothing to do but lounge and nap. Bliss.
What is your greatest fear?
Failure.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Buying organic – it would be so much cheaper and easier not to care!
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My disinclination for exercise.
