Jan Hellriegel

In one or two sentences introduce yourself…….
I’m Jan Hellriegel. Songwriter, mother of two and marketing manager. I’m an avid reader who would like to garden more.

What’s your biggest project going on now?
Promoting my new album – All Grown Up. It’s all go with interviews, publicity, photo shoots and videos and keeping everyone up-to-date via my Facebook and myspace pages.

What do you spend your days doing?
Writing music, reading, working on my album release, spending time with my two kids. And then there’s my fulltime job at TaxRefunds.co.nz where I’m marketing and communications manager.

Where’s your favourite place in NZ?
My favourite place would have to be the Coromandel. When I was a child I spent so much time there, exploring all the beaches and surfing. I spent all my university holidays working in Whangamata. Now I take the family on holidays to the Coromandel as much as I can.

What’s your favourite tipple?
Without hesitation I’d say champagne, but I do like pinot noir too.

Who inspired/or continues to inspire you most in your life?
My father. He blows me away with his positive out look on life. He is 74 years old and still working full time – and he can still party harder and stay out longer than I can.

What’s the latest thing downloaded to your iPod?
I love listening to all kinds of music, it gives me inspiration. A friend gave me a My Friend the Chocolate Cake CD (an Aussie band from 10 years ago) and I’m loving listening to that again.

What’s your biggest weakness?
I find it hard to say no to people so I end up taking too much on.

If you weren’t doing what you are doing now you’d …
be figuring out a way to be doing what I am doing now.

What are you reading?
I have just read the Twilight series and loved every one.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
I’m generally a pretty happy person but a perfect day of happiness would involve spending time with friends and family.

What is your greatest fear?
That I will run out of time to do all the things I want to do in this life time.

What is your greatest extravagance?
I love gold.
**If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d learn how to say no sometimes.

Finish these sentences:

It really irritates me…..
that people get so grumpy around Christmas when we should all be singing out loud. The sun is shining, it’s the holidays, and friends families are getting together, it really is the best time of year.

I just love it when….
I go to bed at the end of the day and think – wow, what a great day that was.
