Mmdelai and Cut Loose

Mmdelai and Cut Loose aka Annemarie Duff and Jen Bell met in February 2010 as classmates on the Creative Enterprise Diploma course at M.A.I.N.Z. During a lunch-time conversation they became fired up about offering gigs that were 'out of the box';combining installation artwork,
original electronic music, live vocals and distinctive lighting to make a stand-out show.

Annemarie

Annemarie had just started writing dancefloor-oriented electronic tracks with vocals, moving away from her previous downbeat compositions. Her first album 'For Sleep and Creativity' brings together 12 of these soothing instrumentals and is available via i-tunes. While talking about
how to perform the tracks live, it became clear that the two could be a great team, with Jen DJing instrumental versions of the tracks, and Annemarie singing. An initial gig at Happy bar in Wellington went well, so they put together a full show with an interactive 'light and mirrors' themed installation, for 3 performances in Dunedin and Christchurch. The mirrors and lights were a crowd pleaser, and the nights were great fun. Jen is about to embark on a tour around the UK & Europe, DJing and working at a music summer camp for girls in the Czech Republic. In 2007 she volunteered at the Girls Rock! Camp in Portland, Oregon (see http://www.girlsrockcamp.org) and it's her dream to set up a similar programme in NZ one day.

Annemarie is continuing to make tracks and get her music out there, with a new live band formed to showcase Mmdelai music. She is also working as a composer of soundtracks and production music. For enquiries please contact mmdeljai@gmkail.c2omj.
