We are delighted to announce the following women and organisations as our Summer 2010 recipients of funding from the Max Foundation for New Zealand Women Trust.
We think you'll agree they absoulutely embody the spirit of the Foundation and we are thrilled to be able to provide them support to enable them to acheive their goals.

Pink Dragons Breast Cancer Boating Team
Are a feisty bunch of women determined to carry the message that life is for living fully and actively after the diagnosis of breast cancer, and who fully embrace positive action to enhance recovery from this life threatening disease.
It is fun, fitness, camaraderie and a sense of purpose that have kept this Dragon boating team strong since it formed in 2005.
The Max Foundation for New Zealand Women pledges $5,000 to help them cover their costs for the coming season, including participation at the NZ Dragon Boat Nationals in March.
Their next regatta is a Super 16 at the Viaduct Harbour as part of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta on Monday 31 January 2011.

Pauleen Hayes – ‘The Hooligan and the Lady’
‘The Hooligan and the Lady’ is the debut play from Pauleen Hayes, who will bring to the stage the true story of Miss Flossie Le Mar, the first woman to teach women’s self defence in NZ.
“The Hooligan and the Lady” was the name of Flossie’s show which toured the Australasian circuit 100 years ago becoming a vaudeville sensation at that time.
Pauleen Hayes, herself both a writer and former self defence teacher, will play tribute to the show with a contemporary production at Wellington’s Fringe Festival in February.
The Max Foundation for New Zealand Women pledges $5,000 to Pauleen Hayes to assist with production costs and bring this play to the stage.
The School of Contemporary Belly Dance
Linda Adams was forced out of her Christchurch studio after the earthquake last year.
Having set up a new studio in new premises, they are much in need of new mirrors for the enjoyment and appreciation of her many members.
The Max Foundation for New Zealand Women pledges $3,500 to purchase new mirrors.
YWCA Auckland M.A.N.A mentoring programme
The YWCA Auckland will pilot a new peer mentoring initiative MANA (Mentoring Active Networking and Alumni) which encourages young women in tertiary training or early career to achieve their self defined goals with the help of peer mentors in their early 20’s.
MANA is a pathway programme from the highly successful Future Leaders mentoring programme, (which has been run for the past nine years). In which they aim to support young women as they continue to strive to achieve their educational and personal goals.
The Max Foundation for New Zealand Women pledges $3,500 to the YWCA Auckland.

Business House Netball Club
The Business House Netball Club on the Kapiti Coast was formed in 1977 and it the oldest and largest Netball club in the district, having just completed their 33rd year of participation in the Netball Kapiti competition.
The Max Foundation for New Zealand Women pledges funding for two scholarships for 2011 for women who cannot afford to play the season.
